Love Transcends Species

Hi everyone, On Saint Valentines Day I would like to write a little post (with Mum’s help of course) about love. Sometimes there is a lot of bad press about animals disliking one another, both the same species and different. However when you look around you in the word there are also wonderful examples of animals helping others, protecting them, and bringing up animals and birds which traditionally they are supposed to hate. It is often said that dogs and cats do not like each other, and sometimes they don’t, but my life has changed since a little black …

Christmas Tree Fun with Domino

When animals discover new things it is always such fun, and Domino has been having great fun with our Christmas tree! Two Christmas’ ago Cleo, Ramesses and Neffi were kittens and we watched them climb in the big Christmas tree, they thought it was great fun and mum and dad didn’t mind. Their early months and antics can be read about in Toby’s Tails – The Christmas Kittens https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tobys-Tails-Christmas-Kittens-Fantasy-ebook/dp/B016153T0A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481972221&sr=8-1&keywords=toby%27s+tails+-+the+christmas+kittens      This is Domino the abandoned kittens first Christmas, and he is having such fun! Halloween

As you know, Fantasy Farm is all about the animals who live here. We do however notice what the humans do, and the strange things they celebrate… Domino has just discovered an enormous orange pumpkin on the vegetable patch and is sniffing it. “What is it?” He asks me. “It’s a pumpkin,” I explain. “What do you do with it?” he asks. “Well Mum cuts it open, takes out the seeds (and feeds them to the chickens) then cuts off the skin and make soups and other things with the insides. It is very popular this time of the …

A Kitten Called?

Well it looks as if the kitten has come to stay, he is coming out to say hello more and more, and he comes up to me to have a rub and make friends, if no-one is watching. “What shall we call him,” Mum says. We all watch the little black and white kitten as it scampers around in the sunshine. I am still wondering what name would suit him when Mum says “What about Domino.” Immediately it seems just the perfect name for him, and Mum calls “Domino.” We watch as he turns his head towards us. Best get …

Beautiful Butterflies.

Butterflies are beautiful you know. I am watching them from just outside the front door, which Mum and Dad have thoughtfully put a shady porch on so I can sunbathe safely. Nearby is a gigantic bush with long purple flowers on it, it is called a buddleia, and it attracts lots of butterflies. Today it is playing host to some beautiful Swallowtails. Then Mum calls me for our walk around the lakes. I am preoccupied by a particularly interesting scent when suddenly I notice Mum has stopped walking. How do I know? Well, I’ll let you into a little secret. …

Dragonflies – Natures Aeroplanes

As I walk around the lakes this morning with my Mum, my attention is drawn to a very noisy frog which is sitting on a stone. “Good morning Mr. Frog,” I say, but it just ignores me. Then, suddenly, its tongue darts out and it catches a little fly, and quick as a flash it eats it – well I never, that’s disgusting, I think. Then, above me I hear a droning sound. Looking up, I expect to see the really old plane which Mum and Dad watch come over occasionally. However, instead I see the most ENORMOUS dragonfly. It …

New Release today 14th January 2016 : Toby’s Tails – Saying Goodbye to Lucky by Susan Keefe

Losing an animal is devastating for young and old alike. Our pets are part of our family and for many losing them is like losing a family member. When we lost Lucky, our Golden Retriever, a dear companion who had been with us a long time, we were all devastated. Lucky was a key character in the very first Toby’s Tails book as Toby’s mentor, and I felt his passing couldn’t go unmarked. I like many others believe that animals have souls. When I read that the Zulu and Ndebele people who live in southern Africa believe that the stars …
